GOKARNA - A TRIP TO PARADISE

By Unknown - 22:26

Vacation is a very important part of our lives, especially after long hours of work and stress, but how often do you plan on spending your free time with a bunch of strangers? Yes, I’m talking about a trip that I went to recently, with 7 people I hadn’t met before. Sounds exciting, doesn’t it? You are right, it was not just exciting, but was also very refreshing and energizing to bond with a new set of people and get to know them the whole trip through. By now, you must have started dreaming about your next trip If I’m not wrong, so let me tell you how I was able to enjoy every bit of my trip.

It all started with 8 strangers coming together to experience an exciting trip to Gokarna (which is an overnight trip, about 12hrs from Mumbai), thanks to Insider for putting together this great idea (in Association with Enroute 42 & Drivezy) and making these 5 days the most thrilling 5 days for me. I couldn’t think of a better way to say goodbye to 2017. I’ve been on plenty of trips before and there have been times when the publicity done for the place was far more than the beauty of the place, but this trip consisted of a palette of the most exquisite sights, a great set of people to hang out with and some amazing food.

In between our trip to Gokarna, we took time to see some equally beautiful places, one of which was Kolad, the place is not far from Mumbai, maybe 3 hours If you are taking a car. It is famous for its beautiful temples and serene views, it almost makes you want to not leave. Then we went to the Kudle beach, By the time we reached Kudle beach, it was 4 in the morning, and we actually saw some Cheetahs on our way there, that was pretty adventurous for us, and to reach the beach, we relied on navigation. One thing I like about navigation is that it helps us go to so many places we don’t even know the names of. After reaching there, we trekked all the way to the beach, for a moment I couldn’t believe that a place this beautiful and almost surreal existed in our country. By almost 3:30 A.M, we had set up our tents under the sky and were ready to enjoy the musical night It was going to be. I hadn’t seen the stars this bright since a long time. That night, we slept to the lullaby of the ocean, under a blanket of stars, I can’t remember the last time I had such a peaceful sleep.

We woke up the next morning to the most beautiful view. The beach was lit up with little children running around and families playing volley ball on one side, and people laying on the sand and reading books on the other, and man was it splendid!

There were a lot of places near the beach for us to freshen up and have our food in, so we sat there for a long time to relax and to get to know each other. By the time we finished lunch, it was past noon, so we decided to take off to a beach named God’s own beach, I know, the name sounds very grand, and so was the beach. We rested in the shacks and had our food.

How often do you get to not just meet musicians, but also jam with them all night? Well that’s what we did all night after dinner, and that was one great night.

Late In the night, at around 2 A.M, we decided to trek to the Paradise beach, by this time I had started to love walking under the stars while sharing many stories with my mates. After reaching, we had set up a camp there, for the next 2 days, fixing the tents all by ourselves. I will never forget all those swims in the beach and the feel of the sand in my hair, and that sight of the sunset just made me want to never leave the place.

We used to have some soulful conversations with people from various countries over a cup of chai, we met some really interesting people in that place, and the funny thing about this place was that there was only one restaurant in this place where you got only Indian food, and out of the 50-60 tourists that visited the Paradise Beach, the number of foreigners was way more than the number of Indians, but that place was heavenly and inspiring.

Well, every trip has to come to an end one day, and mine did too, so After a wonderful 2 nights and 2 days in the Paradise Beach, we took a boat to go back to the God’s own Beach, and the view was gorgeous, with dolphins in the sea, playing around, the cool breeze. It was the best end to the best trip.
That was all about my trip to Gokarna. I made some unforgettable memories and experienced a lot of great things all through the trip. It’s sad how a lot of people plan so much and then end up going nowhere .The best part of the thrill is going for such unplanned trips to these uncharted territories , because they are a great way of shaking off of that tension and stress you go through all week long. So, plan your next road trip now, don’t worry, it’s going to be fun. Cheerio!
